Hi! I am Phil Karn, KA9Q. Welcome to my personal home page!

Personal email: karn (at) ka9q.net
Work email: karn (at) qualcomm (dot) com

This entire website can be accessed with SSL/TLS encryption here. Nothing on this site is secret; it is all open to the public. Nonetheless, I routinely encrypt as much of my own traffic, even non-sensitive information, as I can to protest illegal electronic surveillance by the National Security Agency. I encourage everyone to do the same. If we encrypt everything, then our truly sensitive and personal traffic is less likely to stand out. We must make the NSA search an "encrypted haystack" that's as big as we can make it.

Note: your browser may pop up a warning that I am using an untrusted or self-signed certificate, which I am. I can't use this certificate for anything but authenticating my own website, so it should be safe for you to accept it.

Contacting me

I can be contacted by email at the addresses above. I am also on all of the major IM services:

  • Skype: philkarn
  • Yahoo Chat: philkarn
  • AIM: philkarn
  • Jabber: karn@jabber.org
  • ICQ: 429242134

Because of persistent spamming I've been forced to restrict incoming access on Skype and Yahoo Chat to those already on my contact list. The other services are open to everyone. I'd be happy to add you to Skype and/or Yahoo Chat on request.

I have moved to a separate page several items that used to be on my home page so as to not interfere with https (encrypted) access.

If you're looking for a job at Qualcomm, please do not send me your resume, as I am not in the Human Resources department. Please point your browser here and follow the directions for submitting your resume. Thanks.
